As I get older, my perspective on weddings has changed in quiet but meaningful ways. When you’re younger, it’s easy to get caught up in the excitement—the dress, the playlist, the décor, the picture-perfect moments. But with time, you start to notice different things: the nervous hand squeezes, the way parents tear up during the vows, the laughter shared between old friends. You begin to understand that a wedding isn’t just a celebration, it’s a marker—a heartfelt pause before two people step into something much bigger and more complicated than that one day. The beauty of a wedding starts to feel less about the production and more about the promise. It’s not about perfection, but about intention, and the quiet hope that love will last through all the ordinary, unpredictable days that follow.

Rain, snow, ice… then more rain. Spring has really done a number on us this year. i still remember this rainy wedding day, where Jasmine said let’s go on the docks. Regardless of the weather, she wanted those epic dock photos! We grabbed a few photos while it wasn’t raining too hard yet, and then came back out later for some epic sunset photos.

Holy smokes. 2024 - you were a riot. My 2024 couples brought the absolute JOY into my life. Having these weddings this year was so uplifting as you were all absolute superstars. Also, seeing past wedding besties, whether that was growing your families or seeing you at your friends wedding that you recommended me to is always the absolute BEST feeling in the world. You all have a place in my heart.

My wedding season has come to a close for this year ❤️ It was filled with so much love, heart warming moments, tears and oh-so many laughs.

Before any wedding, I remind myself that I am there to preserve your memories as they happen. I had the amazing opportunity to do that for my couples this year - from barn weddings, arboretums, cottage moments, halls, restaurants and homes - I was invited into your lives for a brief glimpse into the wonderful humans you are. Being able to document and capture your days is always close to my heart and gives me so much joy - truly grateful for this life of mine and thank you ❤️

My toxic trait is thinking that I can make and construct anything. It took almost 3 weeks of work once the kids were in bed, and after work/school working on construction, and gluing … learned so much! So much respect for those who make amazing costumes! this wedding was an absolute delight. I believe that folks come into your life for a reason, and definitely Melissa is a bright light in our lives! She was also my son’s teacher for two years ❤️ and was so just so incredibly kind to him.

Melissa is also encouraging, caring and so darn enthusiastic. I am so happy her and Carlo found eachother in this great big world. Their love for their family and friends (and vice versa) had me in tears watching speeches and their interaction with their guests. It’s so beautiful when your nearest and dearest are witnessing such an important moment in your lives.

But also, what an honour it is to be able to flip through your wedding photos and remember how magical and loving your weddings are! Katie and Robert - from the inital phone call to walking the island, and then your goregeous brunch wedding, we cracked jokes the whole time, laughed at cat memes and just overall felt like I was one of the family the whole day. Makes my heart happy!

This week was something if you’ve been following along.

The days have been filled and we’ve been busy. But a highlight from week was definitely getting to be with this wonderful couple, @alexandrapoce and Michael. Their families and friends were lovely - a beautiful mix of folks from across the pond and Ontario.

It was a beautiful ceremony led by Alex’s brother, and amazing MC duties by friend Louis. Alex and Michael’s speeches left me in stitches. I know that they probably had the best dance party - and probably very tired as they head back home today.

Double exposure fun.

I haven’t played with film for over 20 years.

20 years.

In that 20 years, I traveled, found careers I love, found my love, had babies…. travelled some more. It’s funny how you find your way back to where you started. I think the best thing about doing the film class, is talking with my dad about film and reigniting his passion with film photography. It’s been fun getting articles sent to me on how to digitize negatives, sales on film and even the offer to develop film with me. It reminds me when I took my first photography class in grade 11 and my dad was my biggest supporter. It reminds me after going away in the summer and then coming home to the surprise of a new (new to me) 35 mm nikon camera and a roll of film. I think that’s the beauty of photography - connection.
